The Reality of 1080p?

Is this true? Are HDTV Manaufacturers trying to pull a fast one to get a few more bucks from consumers?

You be the judge. I don't profess to know for sure, I'll have to do more research, but this is interesting. Plus I can vouch for my crappy HDTV picture on my 65" Toshiba 1080i. Too many motion artifacts for sure! And regular TV broadcast resolution on my 65" looks like total ass.
